Closer Look: Twitter for Radio Station Songs

It's been a while since we've blogged, but we should be getting back to a once-a-week rhythm. Please look at this idea and leave some constructive ideas about what you think. If the idea sucks, say so and why. Remember everybody will see everybody's comments, so this is like a group discussion.

Preface:
Radio stations want you listen to them all the time. It is the only way they can keep advertising dollars rolling in. What they do not want you to do is channel surf, which many of us do to avoid the advertising. What would be great for the consumer is to give him/her the information all the time of what songs are currently playing on the other radio stations.

Opportunity:
One way of getting this information out very cheaply is by way of Twitter, the micro-blogging site. If you do not know what twitter is, just google it and read a few of the million pages. Users could follow the stations set up by us and would be informed every time a new song has started with song and artist name. How? The same subscriptions that identifies songs on your cell phone can identify a digital audio signal and send out a tweet of that song and artist name. Where would this make money? Well since there are a few million in LA along listening to radio on their way home, we would immediately have a huge following on Twitter and be able to use those links to send out "informational" news, which are actually ads disguised as news.

What do you think?
