There is a lot said about new trends on the Internet, Facebook just turned 5 years old (an old man in Social Network terms) here an interview with the 22 year old founder Mark Zuckerberg. But the thing that this blog will be filled with is purely ideas that make money. Mark eludes that question in his interview, but since his overhead is extremely low and all he wants to do is grow, there is a pot of gold waiting for this lad on the other side of the rainbow.
There there is lolcats.com. Simple site with cat pictures that everyone can add silly captions to and laugh about. Simple teenage fun? Maybe is started that way, but now they are a private 10 person company located in some very expensive office space in downtown Seattle. This is NOT rocket science. SEO (search engine optimization) is an industry where you can make your webpage popular and findable and therefore gain a following that advertisers would like to embrace. Clearly, the lolcats group knew what was fun, but knew how to get their content out.
This blog will focus all of its effort on finding examples of people making money on the Internet. I would love to see comments back from all on other examples, so that one of these can help us all get past this economic crisis the smart way.
